Donor car – 1983 built Fiat Argenta 120ie. 1995cm3, 90kw (122hp) DOHC, fuel injected by L-Jetronic + 5 speed gearbox.

This is how NEW Fiat Argenta looks like EFI, 2x electric windows, 4x electric door locks, power steering, and a little board computer.

Pictures when everything was off already According to seller the engine was swapped, but they never got it working due electrical problem. More pictures in photo gallery. So firstly I started to clean the engine. Large canister of diesel + brush and the output was quite good - but a lot of work…

Before and after cleaning For engine block I bought a set of bronze wire brushes and used them on drill. It was a lot quicker and I was really happy with the result.

Before and after cleaning In February 2005 I ordered new stainless steel valves for the head. 42.5mm intake and 36mm exhaust.

Intake/exhaust valves; new/old. Original head flowed 160hp intake and 75% exhaust.

In beginning of March 2005 I had the crank measured. It was a little “bowed” so I had it grind and polished to –0.25mm. Also they cleaned all oil galleries. THIS WAS A BAD MOVE, SEE: http://www.guy-croft.com/viewtopic.php?t=520
As seen the oil passages are rounded up. Thanks to Tiit Grossmann (in Windorf) who ported the head in Finland. The head was also glass blasted. The flow bench test showed 10% more flow intake and exhaust. In Windorf the valves and seats were cut and the guides replaced with bronze BMW ones. This really helps to get the heat out of valves. Head was also glass blasted.
